MERGER UPDATE:

Answers to Common Member Questions

Q. Will my account number change?

A.  Account numbers for EMMC FCU members will remain the same, however, there will be one or more digits added to the beginning of the number.  For example, account number 234 could become 2000234, or 123456 might become 2123456.  The original number is part of the new number, making it easier to remember.

Q.  What do I do with the checks I already have, and will I have to buy new checks?

A.  Your existing EMMC FCU checks will be accepted for a limited time after the merger, however, you should begin using your Acadia FCU checks as of the merger date.  Acadia FCU will provide the first order of basic checks (100 checks) at no cost to the members.  At this time, you may dispose of your old EMMC FCU checks.

Q.  Will I have to let Social Security or my new employer know about the new routing number and account number?

A.  The credit union will make every attempt to notify as many entities about the changes in order to provide members uninterrupted service.  The larger providers, Social Security, State of Maine, EMMC, EMHS, will certainly be informed.  Keep in mind that not all businesses will be made aware of the change.  For example, if someone gets a payroll deposit from “Joe’s Corner Store” – essentially, any small business – then that member should make the employer aware of the situation.  Every effort is made to inform as many parties as possible, however, there will be some that will be missed.  This is a good time for members to review what they have coming into or going out of their accounts on an annual, semi-annual, quarterly, bi-weekly, or weekly basis.  We will certainly work with the members to help them with any of these situations in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Q.  Will I get a new debit card?

A.  Yes, if you currently have an EMMC FCU debit card, you will get a new Acadia FCU debit card.  The new card will have a new card number and expiration date.  New cards will be mailed to the members a week or two before the merger, however, they cannot be used before the merger date.

Q.  Will online account access (Home Banking) change?

A.  Yes, you will have a new Online Banking interface through Acadia FCU.  Prior to the merger, you will receive instructions on how to get set up to access your account.  If you have any problems or run into any issues, the staff will be happy to help guide you through the process.

What Are Some of the Benefits for the Members of EMMC FCU?

The merger will allow more products, increased services, and more loan choices, including variable real estate loans and business loans.  We will have the same branch locations with the potential for additional locations, as well as the existing branches of Acadia FCU in Fort Kent, Madawaska, St. Francis, St. Agatha and Ashland.  All existing EMMC FCU staff will continue employment with Acadia FCU, helping to make the transition as easy as possible for you, our members.
